| THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING |
The AGM was very poorly supported this year. This was a great disappointment to the committee who had worked extremely hard preparing an excellent lunch and arranging two very interesting speakers. Dr Ian Gibson gave us a very interesting overview of health services in Norfolk which need to be addressed. He suggested that what is needed is a forum for all support groups in Norfolk to meet and address the issues which affect us all - car parking at the hospital for example. He told us we must Get angry, Get motivated, and Get something done. Do we want to get really professional and get stuck in or do we want to just carry on ticking over? Real food for thought. Our next speaker was Andrew Cook who spoke to us about the various Complimentary Therapies that are available. He said that animals tend to respond dramatically to complimentary medicine as they trust their bodies whereas humand have forgotten how to trust their bodies self-healing mechanism. He told us to focus our energies on health, not illness. After lunch, we held the 'business' part of the meeting. Fran told us how she had been working hard to raise awareness of Lupus through the Rotary Clubs and the Ladies Circle, and that North Walsham Ladies Circle have adopted us as their Charity of the Year. She outlined the plans for the Hospital Drop-In and stressed that "If you don't use it, you will lose it". The treasurer reported a good year and told us that the finances were in good shape. The election of officers then took place and, as there was no other business, the meeting closed. |
